Recruiting Guidelines for High School Divers

Recruiting Guidelines for High School Divers

Welcome to the roadmap for high school divers aspiring to dive at the collegiate level. Please note that this guide is a work in progress, with updates added regularly.

As you delve into this guide, bear in mind that each diver's journey is distinct. Factors like experience, skill level, academic accomplishments, and personal goals will shape your recruiting experience.

Key Considerations for High School Divers:

  1. cademic Excellence Matters: Remember that academic standards often weigh more heavily in college options than diving prowess.
  2. Maximize Exposure: Participate in as many meets as possible, including AAU and USA Diving events, to increase visibility.

Freshman Focus:

  • Establish solid academic habits and remain receptive to coaching.
  • Begin compiling a comprehensive library of diving videos showcasing your progress.dd a description about this item

Sophomore Strategy:

  •  Initiate school visits by the end of sophomore year or during the summer before junior year.
  • Keep academic performance in mind, as it impacts scholarship eligibility.
  • Explore a variety of schools, including those outside your initial preferences.
  • Consider attending camps or clinics at college facilities, with approval from coaching staff.Add a description about this item

Junior Journey:

Start official and unofficial visits to colleges, engaging with coaches and athletes.

  • Inquire about the head swim coach's role and the program's off-season training expectations.
  • Understand the academic standards and support systems available within each program.

   Remember:

  • Clarify your goals and motivations for collegiate diving.
  • Choose a school based on holistic factors, not solely on diving or coaching.
  • Remain flexible, as circumstances may change during your college visits and graduation.

Senior Selection:

  • Narrow down your options based on past experiences and preferences.
  • Utilize remaining official visits judiciously, focusing on top contenders.

Final Thoughts:

Your college decision is not set in stone. Embrace the journey and remember that your worth is not defined solely by your diving achievements.
